The First Choice Credit Union Schools Quiz took place on Sunday 3rd of February to a packed Breaffy Events Arena. A record 53 teams battled it out in two categories, Competition A which was U-11 and Competition B which was U-13.
Questions covered a wide range of topics including geography, history, music, literature and sport, and it was great to see all budding geniuses rise to the challenge.
In a closely fought contest, St. Joseph’s N.S. Derrywash came out on top in the U-11 age group with St. Patrick’s Boys N.S. in second and St. Peter’s N.S. Snugboro in third. In the U-13’s, St. Peter’s N.S. Snugboro ran out winners followed by St. John’s N.S. Breaffy and Balla N.S. in third place. In the U-11’s, St. Joseph’s N.S. Derrywash and St. Patrick’s Boys N.S. now move on to chapter level in early March along with St. Peter’s N.S. Snugboro and St. John’s N.S. Breaffy in the U-13 competition.
The winning teams from that gruelling competition will make it through to the Grand Final at the RDS, Dublin on Sunday 7th April 2019, where they will really have an opportunity to let the ‘power of four’ shine! This year, a total of €4,000 is up for grabs for the overall winning schools.
