First Choice Credit Union is delighted to announce the launch of its 2026 Community Fund, inviting local clubs, groups, schools, and societies to apply for a share of the €150,000 fund.
The fund is open to a wide range of organisations involved in social, cultural, sporting, environmental, educational, and charitable activities within the Credit Union’s ‘common bond’ area. Eligible groups operating in Achill, Balla, Ballyhaunis, Castlebar, Kiltimagh, Swinford, and surrounding areas are encouraged to apply. Applications will be assessed on a case by case basis and all applications must be for a minimum of €2,000.
Commenting on the initiative, Anne King, CEO of First Choice Credit Union, said:
“We are delighted to announce the launch of our €150,000 Community Fund for 2026. This level of funding reflects our sustained commitment to supporting and empowering the individuals and organisations that enable our communities to thrive. As a community‑driven financial co‑operative, we remain steadfast in our dedication to delivering a positive and lasting impact across our common bond area.”
Designed to support larger-scale projects and initiatives that deliver meaningful and lasting community benefits, the Community Fund operates separately from the Credit Union’s ongoing sponsorship and financial support programmes, which will continue as normal.
Peter Mooney, Chairperson of First Choice Credit Union, added:
“This year’s €150,000 fund constitutes a substantial investment in the development of our local communities. Numerous organisations are already undertaking exemplary work, and this support will enable them to extend their reach and enhance their impact. We encourage clubs, schools, environmental groups, and community organisations to submit their applications in advance of the closing date.”
