The 2026 First Choice Credit Union Schools Quiz took place on Saturday 7th February in front of a huge crowd in ATU Mayo, Castlebar with a whopping 59 teams competing across two categories: Competition A (Under-11) and Competition B (Under-13).
With well over 20 schools represented across the catchment area of First Choice Credit Union, the competition did not disappoint, with questions covering a wide range of topics, including geography, history, music, literature, and sport.
In a tight contest, St. Peter’s N.S. Snugboro emerged victorious in the Under-11 category, with S.N. Thóin Re Gaoith from Achill securing second place and Balla N.S. finishing third.
In the Under-13 competition, S.N. Thóin Re Gaoith claimed top spot, taking home the Justin Guthrie Perpetual Cup for first place. Second place went to Swinford N.S. with Scoil Iosa Ballyhaunis finishing third.
St. Peter’s N.S. Snugboro (U11s), S.N. Thoin Ré Gaoith (U11s & U13s) and Swinford N.S. (U13s) progress to Chapter Level of the competition which takes place at 7.30pm on Friday 6th March in the Ballina Sports Centre. The winners of the Chapter Level will qualify for the National Final in the RDS, Dublin, on Sunday 19th April 2026.
